Second game of the season (Sunday 27th September)

Our second game was against Mellor. For this game Flora Bailey went in goal. This was her first time in goal but she was great. Also as a whole team we did much better from the beginning of the game. First half it was 8 or 9 against 1 for us but the score did not reflect our effort. We need to get closer to the players we are marking. Some individual skills from Mellor opened up the gap. At the end the score was 3 for us and late teens for Mellor. Our score should have been 4 but the referee deemed one goal had gone on the back of the net instead of the inside! Still a good performance from the girls who had now subs and were thoroughly tired at the end, which tells you about the effort they put in.

Goal scorers: Miranda (2x) and Jodie (1x).

Julie will be working on our organisation at the defence including the support of the midfielders. We also need to work on our self believe and hunger for the ball. We were at times not as hungry for the ball as our opponents. They were sharper and quicker into getting the balls. Again something we will work on at training.

Player of the day:

Jasmine was the player of the day for defence. She was the one that you could always hear talking and organising.
Elise was the player of the day in attack. She scored two goals and assisted two.
Miranda was the player of the day for midfield and MVP overall. She worked very hard for the team assisted and scored two goals.
