U15 Girls game

Our second game of the season was at HOME against Stockport. This time around we had 15 players to choose our team from. Stockport had only 11 players so we played the game with 10 players so that they had one sub!

We started the game much better than previous games, but still went behind three goals early on. We then started focusing more and passing the ball around and had some goals and good chances. If our finishing had been better (not aiming high or in the middle where the keeper was allowed to save easily) the score would have been closer in the first half and at the end of the game. This is something we need to work on keeping our composure in front of the goal and varying our shots (Stockport did). Throughout the game the defence were doing their best but midfield did not always come back and this left us exposed in defence. In goal we had Nina for the whole game and she made some good saves. The keeper training on Wednesday is giving our wannabe keepers a better understanding of what is expected of them and what to do. With a few games under their belt they will get better and become more confident.

The end score was 15 - 4 for Stockport. I think this score does not reflect the through difference between these teams. We were much better than the score suggests.

Goal scorers: Elena (1x), Ellie (1x) Elise (1x) and Kelly (1x).

At the trainings we need to continue to work on our organisation at the defence including the support of the midfielders. We still need to work on our self believe and hunger for the ball. We were at times not as hungry for the ball as our opponents. Finally work on our shooting.

Player of the day:

Aly was the player of the day for defence. Trying to get everyone focus and support the defence.
Elise was the player of the day in attack. She worked very hard all around the pitch. She was also the MVP.
Jodie was the player of the day for midfield. She worked hard and was often in empty space giving an option to midfield and other players.
