Winter has arrived and girls played well.

Terrible rain on Friday at Bowdon fireworks then a beautiful Saturday and what was in store on Sunday? There might have been some clouds but I could see blue sky at the beginning of the game. This did not last for long and by end of the first half winter said hello to us with a bit of rain and drop in temperature. Poynton had 12 players and we had 15. We were sharp from the beginning but a bit scrappy when the ball was on the ground. All girls turned up with the right attitude and focus.

First half. It was an other easy game for us and the score reflected this. We took charge from the word go and never looked back. Poynton side is a mixture of U15 and U13 with some young ones. First half the score was 16-0 to us. Sophie in goal for the first half made some great saves to keep a clean sheet. At times it got a bit scrappy with ground balls or challenges and at first quarter stop some of the girls picked up on this and we did better after. Some individual solos resulted in most of the early goals but when we passed around we scored some lovely goals. We played well as a team.

Second half, Charlotte was in goal second half and she made some great saves too. She could not have done much with the two goals. These were the result of not enough players getting back and leaving the defence exposed. Besides these two goals at times we gave them a bit too much space due to some slack man marking. Otherwise we played better as a team. Passed around the goal more and tried picks. We still need to move more when we are passing around, if we do this we will be even more devastating. The final score was 23 - 2 for Timperley.

Overall a very good performance from all and deserved winners. We need to stay level headed and not get carried away with these kind of results, but the girls fought well today.

Man of the Match Defence - Sophie Hurlstone. Good saves in the first half to settle our nerves. Great coming out when she had the ball and good passing (Chris Wright’s tips are working well).
Man of the Match Midfield - Jodie Pollard. Worked hard, scored but also assisted well.
Man of the Match Attack - Maddie Lord. Worked hard, scored but also assisted well.
Man of the Match Match - Daisy Kay. Made some crucial challenges and communicated well plus scored not one but two goals.
