U5 game 2 after lockdown

After the initial scare of receiving a text message on Saturday night saying that three of the girls had to isolate, we had 12 girls that gave their all today. Laura was the only girl if I'm correct we will be moving up to the under 18s next year.

Our defence including our goalie was made out of entirely U13s. The midfield and attack was a mixture of U13 and U15s. This was the first time for some of them playing together at this age group.

Like the last game I was slightly worried, but again they proved me wrong. Quarter 1, they started full blast and won that quarter 6-1. Quarter 2, Mellor came back and it was a much more competitive quarter. They won this quarter 3-5. Half time score 9-6 for TLC.

Quarter 3, another competitive quarter but we kept the control and came on top 5-3. Quarter 4, I don't know what happened here. We were totally in control of this quarter and won it 7-1. Full time score 21 - 10 for TLC U15s.

Laura was the captain of the team and like the rest of the team she fought very hard throughout the game. Katie made some great saves and great clear to start fast attacks. Our defence did great against older girls and worked as a unit. Midfield and attack worked well. Our quick attacks were devastating. When required we slowed the pace of the game and passed around their D.

Things to get better at: looking around us to see if we can release the ball sooner; not holding the ball too long (tied in with the 1st point) and silly passes into crowded areas.

I am looking forward to our next game and continuing this great performance there but also at our training sessions. See you all on Wednesday.
