The match against Stockport started slowly with Timperley controlling possession, however the girls were late to arrive and the lack of warm up really showed in the first quarter as we didn't play well enough to make the possession count. Nonetheless the first quarter finished 3-0 to Timperley.
We knew the girls would play themselves into form and they did so in the second quarter, led by a superb captains' performance from Ana who drove the whole team forward. Eight goals in the second quarter took the score to 11-0 at half time.
I won't say anything about the shenanigans from Stockport just before and during half time, but unfortunately it affected the girls in the 3rd quarter. Moreover the umpires' reaction and subsequent approach made it difficult for us, and we lost the third quarter 1-6. That was a shame, but hopefully everyone will learn from it and I think the girls learnt really quickly, because they regained their composure, and played a strong final quarter winning 5-1, and taking the final score to 17-7.
The girls have been excellent this season so far and should finish the year feeling very proud of the superb lacrosse they have played this year. We have two more league fixtures to play and then the cup competition in the New Year.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas. Goals and assists below:
