In what was the first festival experience for the U7 squad, 2 teams really enjoyed the challenge of multiple matches against teams from all over the southwest and beyond. With all matches being friendly the results didn’t matter which made for a very relaxed atmosphere and we our thanks go out to Exmouth RFU for hosting the event – not to mention arranging for a full day of sunshine! Literally dozens of tries were scored by Topsham’s teams with the blue team doing especially well. Of particular note were the performances of Ted Benson (Player of the Week) and Sam Reay (Try of the Week). These awards were particularly impressive and demonstrate how well these 2 are playing since so many of the squad had outstanding performances. Sam Duncan – perhaps motivated by his Dad on the pitch! – was incredible in tagging and running with the ball. Support play from Rory Clayton was brilliant, and George Guy seemed to be everywhere at once! With solid performances from the rest including great tries from Jimmy Houghton the day was a great success.
Special thanks to Gill Duncan and Nick Benson whose coaching experience was really appreciated by us all – they inspired the kids and provided great rugby role models.
No rugby this Easter Sunday – a well earned rest, then Paignton AWAY on Sunday 15th April
Have a great Easter
