A great win in harsh conditions

Mikes match report:
Sunday brought what we expected to be the challenge of the season so far, with both Tavistock visiting and some bitter weather forecast, along with many absentees due to the holidays.

As expected, Tavistock turned up smarting from being turned over earlier in the season and took an early lead playing down the hill. They competed ferociously at the ruck’s and put together some good rugby phases to edge ahead. Playing up the slope, Topsham responded with pace and power to drive over and level the scores.

The switch of ends for quarter two brought a bitter wind, hail showers and a hat-trick of unanswered tries for Topsham, completing in greater numbers at the ruck’s, forcing turn overs with fantastic defence and some lovely flowing rugby, including a wonderful straightening of his line by Frankie to hold up the defence before releasing Finn for the score.

Tavistock came back again and again but our strength and class shone through. Great running from Freddie with the ball in hand, crunching tackles from Archie, Nate, Joseph and Jacob and tenacious defence around the breakdowns from Tully Luke and Will BT kept them at arms length.
Big mention and best wishes for a speedy recovery to Luke and Nate, both suffering injuries for the cause.

Final result, - a great win for Topsham

Best performance and best opposition of the season in harsh conditions for players and spectators!
