On a surprisingly beautiful cold morning, we made the short trip up to Exeter Arena for a hastily arranged fixture against Saracens. We don't play our local rivals nearly enough so it was brilliant to get a fixture. Saracens had done a pretty epic clear-up job after their fireworks night and give or take a couple of puddles the pitches were in decent shape. Saracens had also taken the precaution of double booking themselves so we also had the opportunity to play one of the best teams in the region- Kingsbridge.
We had a really solid turn out and it was nice to see old and new faces mixing in the two teams we fielded. All the games were tight and there was some brilliant, competitive, committed rugby. We managed to get the better of Saracens on this occasion but Kingsbridge's aggression in contact, really solid basics and appreciation of moving the ball into space, just proved too much for both our teams. Hopefully, this will give us some food for thought next time we are training. Rupert.
