After a disruptive couple of months with injuries and other rugby commitments it was great to have most of the squad out playing today.
The 1st half was a mixed affair with Tows dominating much of the possession and scoring first, then conceding in the first 15 mins.
From there Tows had a good 4-5 try scoring opportunities when the ball should have gone through the hands or some calmer play was needed close to the try line. We also had two tries frustratingly disallowed. The score at half time was 7-5 to Earlsdon.
The first 20 minutes of the 2nd half saw Towcestrians have much of the possession again and better support play saw us take and extend the lead to 17-7 with tries from Mason (his 1st try for Tows) and Isaac, and a conversion from Dan.
From there it went a little pear shaped and maybe one or two heads switching off in defence letting Earlsdon back into the game to close the score to 17-17.
Tows struck back with an excellent try from Dan to take the lead, and just missing the conversion so 22-17.
After putting ourselves on the back foot with constant infringements for offside our opponents nabbed the final try and conversion in the last few minutes to close out the game as winners 24-22.
At the end of the game we asked the lads for their feedback, they felt there were some positives (as did we) but that this was a game they themselves let slip away and was in their grasp for the taking. That said the Earlsdon lads did well battling till the end, so our congratulations to them.
Some nice feedback though from Robbie George, the DOR for Tow's seniors who was watching the match. Very enjoyable game and he was Impressed with how we played. The future looks bright if the lads keep at it, listen (!!) and work hard.
Tries: Ewan, Mason, Isaac, Dan
MOM: James Coleman - First game back after an injury and played really well today, nice to see him back.
