Today was a scrappy match against too evenly balanced sides, which ultimately saw our opponents take the result with a try and conversation in the last 10 minutes.
Using the game to try some different combinations after the last two league games Tows got off to a bright attacking start and dominated the first 30 minutes or so of the game and kept the lead for most of the match.
A great try from Dan saw Tows take the lead in the first 5 minutes and then dominate play but without really taking full advantage of some good possession.
Aylesbury were game opponents and competed well and both sides were making tackles and making it difficult for each other to get any real forward momentum.
A couple of injuries here and there seemed to disrupt our game plan and the last 15 minutes were a bit scrappy and no side really controlled the match. Aylesbury took advantage of some momentum and after getting into our 22 for the first time in the game dogged it out and slipped in a try near the post after some determined carrying.
Tows came back well for the last few minutes but some untidy play with the ball in hand and a few 'interesting' choices by the lads meant we couldn't hit back before the ref called time.
Overall lads that's rugby, some games are going to be close as this one was and dont go to plan and you have to win a little bit ugly. We just couldn't manage to do it today.
Nice to give all the lads some game time and opportunity to play, and well done to Fergus who came on a played his first game time today for a good few years.
We have arranged a follow on fixture in Feb so look forward to meeting Aylesbury again over at their place.
