In a very competitive and honest game of Rugby against two evenly matched squads and one in which Tows earned the honours.

In the 1st half Scouts started well playing at tempo and with good offloading putting Tows under a lot of pressure. The 1st 10 minutes had Scouts ahead 14-0 and Tows were on the back foot.

But sticking to our basics and game plan, and getting more aggressive Tows started to get a foothold and with some better rucking and strong ball carries leading to an attacking opportunity in the Scouts 22. A good scrum saw Tows put a score on the board from Isaac.

Another try was scored from each side, Isaac grabbing his second and Dan converting to see the score at half time 19-12 to Scouts.

Both sides made changes in the 2nd half, but Tows really started to wake up and get into our stride, and started to take the game to Scouts with some big ball carries and aggressive play.

Tows scored 3 unanswered tries and a conversion with Isaac (nabbing his third), Jacob and Sammy (getting his first try of the season) to go 29-19 up.

From here on, and after further rotations of players to account for some knocks, the game was scrappy from both sides but Scouts pulled it back to 29-24.

The most accurate term for the next period would, at best, be called a dog fight - with both sides trying to scrap for a win with tired legs and bursting lungs from everyone on the pitch.

The Tows coaches and parents had their eyes nervously on the clock as the end approached. Finally after another bit of scrappy play the whistle was eventually blown for Tows to take the win.

Well done to the lads for another great performance today. Old Scouts are a squad we respect a lot and you know it's never going to be an easy game, and both sides could have won here as it was that close.

This is another marker on our development journey as we work to close the gap with the more established, and bigger squads in the East Midlands ....we are on the up and on our way to competing with them!

Score: Tows 29 - Old Scouts 24

Tries: Isaac (3), Jacob, Sammy

Conversions: Dan, Sam

MOM: McKenzie - For being a right royal pain in the A!!!, exactly what you want from a back row.
