Peterborough may have had some mighty units but Towcester chop them down for the win.

Towcester v Peterborough

We arrived at Peterborough for our match scheduled to kick off at 11am. The Peterborough Pack has some mighty units and all the pre-game talk was focused on this.

Once Julian had delivered his inspiring speech we were then all focused on winning the game.

We kicked off and made a fast start on scoring a try directly from the kick off with our forwards recovering the ball from Peterborough allowing the backs to pass the ball out to the birthday boy JJ to score the first try. After some good rucking and mauling work Towcester soon found there self 19-0 up within the first 7 minutes.

Peterborough then found there forwards some work and pulled a try back.

Our pack soon responded with some good individual work and stealing the ball from the opposition allowing Jeremy and JJ to run 3 more try’s in the first half.

Second half Peterborough kicked off to Towcester and we responded with a quick break for another try, Peterborough’s forward lads got stuck in and hit back with 2 quick try’s.

This prompted the head coach to make some tactical changes and Towcester were able to exploit a tired Peterborough team scoring 4 more try’s in the half with Malinder, Owen, JJ and Jeremy all going over the line to take us to a 80-24 victory.

I thought the whole team worked really hard and the forwards did fine great work to allow the backs to claim the glory.

Special mention to Harvey who kicked 10 out of 12 conversions on a very windy day.

Well played everyone, it was a pleasure to be the captain for the day.
