Great win for the Towcester Girls

Towcester Roses travelled with over 20 ladies to Brackley RFC to play against Buckingham Swans in a local derby friendly. A chance to get a run out for a number of new players in both squads.

The first quarter of the game went all Towcester’s way. Scoring and just building their game from the get go. Tries being scored and great attacking play meant they broke the gain line numerous times and were able to cross the try line.

Playing 4 quarters allowed for rolling subs to come on and off, allowing people a chance to play in different positions. Newbies Devon Weeson, Andrea Churchyard having some game time for the first time and doing very well.

Fantastic effort in the scrums by both teams. As well as the line outs.

Towcester defended well but saw Bucks make a great break in the middle of the match to score. This making the Roses tighten up their defensive line and not over commit to the breakdown.

Towcester not only scored tries, but with the boot of Lauren Cordery, they were being converted.

Some big tackles were put in by Tows, as the Bucks girls had some strong ball carriers. Mauls were working in Tows’ favour.

All round great effort by the team and individuals. Best structured game so far!
