U15 Girls get back to winning ways

By

After East Mids break the girls get back together.

3 Weeks since the disappointment of losing in the Area Semi Final to Welwyn ( Who beat Hitchin today in the final 20-15).
The U15 Girls squad was back together in action today against Banbury. A little under strength with 3 players missing. The conditions were not quite as bad as when we played over there but there was some rain and a strong wind that Banbury chose to play with at their back in the first half.
The fact that the team hadn't played together for a while was evident from the kick off. Not getting into the rucks and letting Banbury come at them saw the Belles go over for the first try of the afternoon. Slowly Tows began to get their game together. Although it was a solo break away try by Annabelle Luntz that got Tows going.
A penalty on Tows 22 and a Belles player cut through the Tows defense like a hot knife going through butter. Its rare that the players get shouted at but a proper rollicking was given by the coach to the players. At last Tows started playing like a team again, great rucking and ball retention saw them edge towards the opposition try line. A penalty 5 meters out saw Bella Taylor going over the whitewash driven there by her co captain Caitlin Donohue. It was the kind of try we see Exeter scoring week in week out.
Tows really started to up their game and the off loading was back to its awesome best. Erin Donnerly scoring the first of her 3 tries.
A crunching tackle by fly half Sinead Parker saw her take a hit that put her on the side line. A re jig and luntzy moving to fly half for the first time. Shes a strong runner and relished this extra space scoring a second and converting it. Half time 22-10.
Tows kicked off and what a kick off, it hung high and allowed the pack to get underneath and win the ball back. The forwards interplay between Kira Fitzgerald, Daisy Boyce and PP , Polly Peterson helping Erin score a second.Tows pack began to dominate Daisy in her first game at hooker winning balls against the head. But it wasn't just the forwards rucking the ball back, the rock that is Nell Bellenger holding off 3 Banbury players on her own, showing what a perfect body shape and a fearless attitude can do.
The Belles pulled a converted try back with a break away from in their own half. She was nearly caught by Jasmine Pinchin who never gave up the chase. The last 15 mins and 4 more tries, Tows superior fitness showing through a 3rd then 4th for Annabelle both great weaving runs cutting through the opposition defense.A third for Erin which saw the ball passed through countless hands. The last try scorer Aria Lowden some how braking 2 tackles and rounding off the afternoon with a try under the posts .Special praise to Lilly Fergurson making sure that every time she was tackled the ball was presented perfectly and won back. Also Massie Morrison playing her first game for Tows after just half a dozen training sessions a great addition to the squad.
Next week is East Midlands again and the week after TOUR . Heres to a smashing last 2 months of the season.

Win a Maximuscle training session with Anthony Watson
