Towcestrians continued the theme of this season with a brilliant first 40 minutes to blow Bugbrooke away in this Alliance Cup Quarter Final and then followed it with a half that was distinctly average to allow Bugbrooke back into the game and make it harder than seemed necessary
After stemming an early threat from the local rivals Tows scored on the back of a driven lineout, Fen Gallagher going over, the battle between the scrum halves, Tom Wood and Gus Hopewell swung Tows way when Hopewell kicked through a dropped Bugbrooke pass to run in for a score, Matt Yuill converted, keeping cool heads Tows executed their gameplan and used the ball well, No.8 Jamie Warr creating two more scores for Tows breaking down the blindside on both occasions, Ben Roe finishing off the first and James Hale going over for Tows fourth try of the half, both converted by Yuill for a 0 - 26 lead.
With a large lead and seemingly in full control of the game Tows turned around for the second half, however, Bugbrooke fought back gamely and Tows lost their shape and discipline, falling foul of the referee to see 2 men in the bin at the same time, Bugbrooke took full advantage crossing for two scores, both converted to narrow the gap but Tows had enough to see the game out to the end and move into the semi-finals against Daventry.
Tows 2nd XV came back from table topping Hinckley, going down to a narrow loss, 25-17 and the 3rd team squad and friends escaped to Blackpool for their annual tour.
