Tows secured their spot in this years Alliance Cup Final thanks to a solid performance in terrible conditions against Bugrooke, under the lights at Greens Norton Road on Wednesday evening.

Tows started the brighter in horrible conditions retaining possession well and looking dangerous, but were unable to find the necessary breakthrough thanks to Bugbrooke's robust defence and difficult handling conditions, Ronnie Speakman and Dave Devlin-Jones looking most likely early on to score after some promising breaks.

It was Jamie Warr who crossed for Tows first try though from close in following some good build up play, converted by James Falvey, Tows second score came soon afterwards after solid build up saw Tows move down the field, Gus Hopewell at Scrum-half expertly exploiting a half gap to go through and step the cover defence for a nice try, Falvey again converted, in deteriorating condition Tows struck again with a penalty to lead 17 - 0 at half time.

Bugbrooke returning for the second half with the wind and rain at their backs would look to exploit the elements but were met with solid Tows defence holding them at bay, Tows then scored to effectively end the tie, Jamie Warr again powering over from 5 metres out.

Bugbrooke managed a consolation try after a dropped pass from Tows allowed them to fly hack the ball half the length of the field to score, converted to end an entertaining and hard fought match 24 - 7

The Final is to be played at Franklins Gardens on 25th April at 7.30pm and follows the first ever Alliance Womens Trophy which kicks off at 6pm
