Playing into a strong wide in the first half, Towcester quickly got into their stride with tries form Matthew Yuill, Devlin Jones and Dave Stocks which put them 17 points up in their first League game of the season against S&L. But over-eleaboration led to mistakes and the Corby side, relegated from Midlands 1 last season, gleefully pounced on them to score three tries of their own.
Towcester turned round 17-19 down and although they had the advantage of the elements in the second half, the game still seemed in the balance until a blinding spell in which they crossed the line four times in six minutes. Stocks and Jones each scored twice from moves which came from deep to put the match beyond the reach of S&L.
