Tows come up short away from home

Following last weeks heavy defeat Tows were looking to makes amends and put in a performance, travelling away to their most local fixture this season against Tring, Tows started brightly and Ben Roe put Tows ahead with a penalty from the half way, The eager home side looked to spread the ball wide, but wasted three strong positions after throwing crooked lineouts, Alex Chalcraft chased down a kick for Tows forcing the Tring full back to hold on illegally, Roe knocking over the Penalty to extend Tows lead to 0 - 6, Tring replied with a penalty and then went ahead when Roe overdid a cross kick to the wing which was picked off by Tring to run in for a convereted try, Roe made amends knocking over a mammoth penalty from wide out inside his own half to cut the deficit 10 - 9, Tows then conceded two tries before half time, after first failing to defend a line out drive and then a collision in midfield allowed Tring centre to run in from halfway both converted to finish the half 24 - 9

Tring increased the lead after half-time with a penalty but Tows, who never stopped tackling, came back with a try after James Falvey released Alex Chalcraft to open his account for the season, Tring scored from a line out close in and a yellow card for Tows prop Tom Garner gave Tring the numbers advantage to score again, Tows had the last word though after battering the Tring line then moving the ball wide for Pepe Nanci to score wide out.

after the game Tows Director of Rugby Robbie George commented "These first two games and a large number of unavailability has really tested the squad, but it has allowed us to look at some players and give debuts to five guys who have worked really hard" Head Coach Chris Parr looked at the positives saying "when we built phases of play in attack we came away with points and the first half showed we can compete at this level, Gus Hopewell was fantastic throughout, we do need to tighten up in defence and reduce the error count moving forward"

Next week Tows host Westcombe Park for the first time ever at Greens Norton Road and Parr looked forward to that game"Historically Westcombe have been strong in this league and we know we have to front up, we're excited to play in front of what will be another large and enthusiastic home crowd and put in a positive performance"

Elsewhere in the Club results have been really positive Tows 2nd XV saw off Birmingham & Solihull 2nd's 40 -28 and the 3rd XV beat Kettering 2nd XV 19 - 7
