Tows made the Three and a Half hour trip down to Tunbridge Wells on Saturday in their latest leg of this seasons London and South East League odyssey, no doubt wondering how they ended up in the same region as a team from the far side of Kent, and the difficulty of coping in this league continued with a 34 point defeat, despite competing for long periods
Tows quickly found themselves on the back foot conceding 3 early tries, but came back with a well worked try of their own through Gus Hopewell converted by James Falvey, to turn around 19 - 7 down and not out of the game. Tows worked hard from the start of the second half and contested well as they shared the territory with the home side but threw away good attacking positions by conceding penalties, this lead to Wells getting the all important next score from right wing, Blaise Salle. With their tails up and the bonus point secured the home side went on the attack and took the game away from Tows with three further tries, injuries to Tows already heavily depleted squad during the later stages saw Dave Devlin-Jones ending up at wing forward, however, Tows effort never faltered, with Callum Threlfall again to the fore, working hard right to the end despite the scoreline.
Tows league action continues this Saturday as they entertain Hertford, and a big home crowd at Greens Norton Road is needed to cheer the boys on.
Tows 2nd XV trip to Market Harborough produced another stellar result for the team, as they won 5 - 71.
