The Towcestrians roadshow was off and running again this weekend as the Tows travelled to Sidcup in Kent to take on the mid table team, it was the proverbial game of two halves as Tows dominated the opening half only for the home team to step up and take the Tows out in a high scoring comeback.
Tows again pulling on the strengths of the development XV to call up a number of players after yet more injuries for this fixture and it was the scratch team that came back from 8 - 0 own early on to take the lead, a yellow card reducing Sidcup by one, allowed Tows scrum, under pressure all season, to drive the home team over their won line for a score, Tows scrum half Murray Aitchison collecting the five pointer, Full-back James Falvey broke from deep to kick ahead for Tow winger Alex Chalcraft to collect and score, Falvey adding the extras for a 8 - 12 lead, a second pushover from the Tows pack saw Tows extend the lead, even with Chalcraft in the bin, Aitchison again scoring converted by Falvey and Tows had a handy halftime lead at 8 - 17
The home side rallied quickly after the restart and scored a try followed by a penalty to move to within a point and with the Tows tiring in the last quarter and Sidcup really stretched Tows with a great display of teamwork and took the game away with three further converted tries to win 37 - 17, Tows skipper Craig Holton joining the injury list, there will again be positives that can be taken from the first half performance of this game as Tows continue to work hard and look for a foothold in this very stong league.
Elsewhere Tows 2nd XV beat Newbold on Avon 2nd's 32 - 17 in this home league fixture.
This coming Saturday the Tows are at Home to Essex side Westcliff-on-sea
