Tows produce best display of season for sixth straight win

Tows took on promotion chasing Oundle, looking to reverse a heavy defeat away at the hands of the team currently 3rd in the League, and had the best possible start, playing with the wind, early pressure leading to a try from Ali Haynes, then following a period of solid defence a sound scrum lead the ball being moved wide through the backs for left wing Cam Young to cross unopposed, James Falvey adding the conversion from the touchline to add to his first and Tows were up 14 - 0, Oundle's pack piled on the pressure with a series of scrums on Tows line, eventually leading to a try from no.8 Singles, the man who had helped himself to five tries in the earlier fixture.

A searing break from Tows young scrum-half George Speakman left him short of support but Falvey slotted the resulting penalty for a 17 - 7 lead, the half finishing with Tows surviving a period of intense pressure, twice holding up the visitors when over the line.

The second half began with more of the same, the visitors laying siege to Tows line but only came with away with a penalty, Tows, now with the wind in their faces having to run the ball, played some brilliant handling rugby, Falvey fielding an Oundle kick ran back with purpose releasing Cam Young, who sped down the wing, outpacing the cover, to run behind the posts and continue his seasons try scoring exploits.

The use of a strong Tows bench gave fresh impetus, a barging run from Hooker, Jordan Brew, found Callum Jones who continued to bust tackles, leading to Falvey dancing in under the posts, his conversion of both tries seeing Tows home for the best performance of the season.

After the game Tows head coach Chris Parr was full of praise "It was a terrific performance, the spirit in the squad is as good as its been all season, driven by standards set by the senior players, the amount of points and the manner of the tries we're scoring shows the skill set is really high at the moment" Parr went on to comment about the strength in depth saying "the competition for places is really strong with players desperate for a start, we have real momentum, it's been a great run but we know we have some big big games coming up and we can be confident but also embrace the challenge and take as much pride in defence as we do attack"

Tows now have a break from League action as the Lewis Shield squad take to the field this coming Saturday, the next League game is on the 9th February away in Nottingham at table topping Paviors
