Saturday saw the start of the new season and Towcestrians travelled Leicestershire to play newly promoted Market Harborough.

It took a while for Tows to shake off the cobwebs, the home side went ahead with two penalties in the opening minutes.
It was not long however before Towcester replied, Cam Young crossed the line for his first of the season, the try was not converted.
Lack of discipline then lead to Tows full back being sent to the sin bin allowing Harborough to extend their lead. The try was converted.
Coming off his wing into the line Cm Young then scored his second putting Tows onto the front foot. The visitors took the game to Borough, barraging the home defence only to see a length of the field interception try put them a further 7 points behind.
Tows took the last chance of the half however as their persistence paid off, Ben Roe crossed the line and converted to make the score 20 – 17 at the break.
A poor start to the second half for Tows saw Harborough convert a third penalty followed by an unconverted try. The game seemed to be slipping away from the visitors.
After the fourth slotted penalty, it was now or never for Towcester. A flurry of tries, first Peter Growler from a driving maul and then winger Reece Williams crossed to bring Tows back into the game.
A period of serious pressure on the Harborough line was rewarded by a Pepe Nanci try which was converted, and with only 3 minutes to go Tows looked as though they had completed a remarkable comeback.
To Tows’ dismay a penalty was awarded to Harborough off the restart. The home 10 slotted the difficult conversion to square the game.
Tows’ return to Greens Norton Road next weekend for their first home game of the season welcoming Melbourne.
