Tows soon found that the ref was not going to take any chat from the players as he awarded a penalty to Matlock in kicking distance early into to the game.
With both defences at full throttle the game stayed at 0-3 for 35 minutes, this was until Tows pressure finally showed through the forwards as they provided space for fly half Charlie Barker to score. Falvey converted to make the score 7-3.
Matlock then decided to take the game to Tows as they looked to extend their unbeaten run to 9 successive wins. However Tows had other ideas. Full back Falvey’s quickly taken mark was passed to Chrissie George who made ground before releasing winger stocks who dummied his opposite number to put stocks in for a Try which had started at the other end of the pitch, truly scintillating stuff from the home team.
The stunned visitors then failed to control a scrum, this lead to Tows scrum half Gus Hopewell nipping in to score under the posts, Falvey’s conversion of both tries seeing Tows in control at 21-3.
Suddenly Matlock came storming back, through their forwards this time as they scored a quick pick and go try, quickly followed by a line out drive resulting in a try, both of which the fly half converted for a score of 21-17, the momentum in favour of the visitors at this point.
With the game hung in the balance a touch line break from Mark Yeates saw Tows gain breathing space with a try wide out for a 26-17 win.
