With controversy over whether the pitch was playable, and the clubhouse being in complete darkness, kick off was slightly delayed. After a few minutes of respective silence the game kicked off.
Tows found themselves under pressure early on in the game as their scrum was penalised for Paviors fly half to slot the penalty.
Tows came back with a penalty which was kicked into the corner. The line out was gathered which produced pressure so that they could release the backs. David Williams breaking through to score under the posts and with Yuill and Falvy missing Pepe Nanci converted.
Tows scrum dissatisfying referee May Barnards resulted in two more penalties that were slotted by Paviors fly half, as he edged his team into the lead. Chrissie George being yellow carded did not help Tows’ cause but a Nanci penalty pushed them into a 10 – 9 lead.
Paviors always looking to spread the ball through their half backs excellently exploited Georges absents with the best try of the game running from deep with players in support to score brilliantly wide out.
Craig Holton got Tows back in front, crashing over directly from a line out. The score was now 15 – 14.
Tows then lost George to a second yellow card to go down to 14 men. The score line seesawed into Paviors favour as they smashed another penalty through the uprights. The lead didn’t last long however as Nanci replied with a penalty.
Tows now with only fourteen men shocked Paviors with scrum half Dave Stocks Forcing his way over from a quickly taken penalty.
The last act of the game was the red carding of Paviors influential fly half. This was the second red card in a game that was hard yet fair.
