After early sparring Tows took the lead through Matt Yuill, as he gracefully kicked the ball through the uprights for his team’s first three points, Yuill back on kicking duty after James Falvey’s withdrawal.
Tows now began to keep a firm grip on territory, as a result of their domination a scrum was driven forward for Hooker Richard Tustain to score.
Newark then looked as though they had come back with a try, However only to be pulled back by their honest touch judge who pointed out a foot in touch.
As the game pushed on Tows looked to move the ball, a quickly taken penalty from inside their own half saw winger Pepe Nanci beat several defenders to score. Tows lead at half time by thirteen points.
The second half began with the yellow carding of a Newark centre, both sides discipline coming into question early on. Tows then exploited the chance of the extra player as they released Nanci for his second try.
As the game slowly pushed on errors began to appear in Newark’s efforts to make a game out of it, however Tows failed to capitalize, several two on one chances blundered.
Close to the end of the game Newark’s Fly half was red carded due to talking back to the referee, which he had been doing for most of the game. This did not do his side many favours.
Tows were then reduced to fourteen with Nick Blackman Tows flanker being binned for ten minutes, However Tows regrouped and a sublime back of the hand pass from Chrissie George unleashed Nanci for his hat trick.
Newark’s forwards however battled on and to reward their efforts scrum half Matt Clark crossed for a converted try.
Next week Tows play BBOB at Greens Norton Road, kick off 14:15.
