Salisbury’s defence held up well in the first quarter as Tow applied a seemingly endless Barrage. It did not take long for the first try to come however as flanker Yuon Skelton used his pace to out run the covering defence. Falvey’s conversion attempt went wide of the target.
Tows then began to take the game more to the visitors, the scrum in particular a huge asset, young tight head prop Dougie Rattray at the fore. A penalty scrum resulted in a try for Craig Holton, this time converted by Falvey.
There followed a flurry of tries scored by Ben Roe and scrum half Dave Stock as Roe crashed through the defence and Stocks deftly dotted down for the bonus point try, both of these were calmly taken by Falvey.
Resolute Salisbury refused to lie down however as they scored through winger Dren White for the half to finish at 26-5 to Tows.
The second half started with Dave Stocks’ second try as he used his guile to catch the opposition out with a quickly taken penalty. Another try was then scored from a scrum won against the head before Craig Holton crossed the white wash from a line out drive.
Tows’ tantalizing rugby then continued with a try from each of the Hopewell brothers.
The game however finished messily for Tows, as a loose ball was pounced on by Salisbury flanker Lawrence Taylor who scored a converted try under the posts.
This concluded a great day at the office for Towcester much can be taken from the game and repeated as they travel to second place Swindon next weekend no doubt a tougher challenge.
