This was a game of two halves, during the first Tows played fluid phases, the backs spread the ball well and James Falvey's positional kicking at Full Back was imperious. However, in the second half Tows allowed the hefty Cheltenham pack to play a mauling game allowing the home team to get back into the match and steer close to an upset.
The first Tows try came quickly into the first half as Aaron Goodman looped to score wide out. Then Charlie Barker’s tough defence turned over the ball for Joe Chambers to steam over on the opposite side of the field, Falvey converted both from touch.
This was followed by a needless penalty try that put Tows in trouble, it was short-lived as Cheltenham 13 Mark Whitney was yellow carded. Young Hooker Fen Gallagher scored under the posts as he capitalized on the chance of an extra man.
Cheltenham had the last say of the half as they score to show that they were still alive.
The home side started the second half the brighter as Tows picked up 2 consecutive yellows resulting in 20 minutes with 14 men. During this time Cheltenham were able to capitalise coming back with 2 tries and setting up a tense finish.
Tows held out the barrage and gain a spot in the play offs.
