In a game that Tows believe they could have got something from, they found themselves on the wrong side of the result again

Tows started brightly against an unbeaten Kettering team. They worked their way up the pitch through a number of phases, only to be undone by an interception score to go 7-0 down. While Tows enjoyed relative dominance in the scrum, they couldn't make this count conceding two further tries before half time to go in to the break 19 points behind with no reply. A team yellow card for Andrew Smith who had only just come on and an offisde infringement from Zac Osborne saw Tows down to 13 men. The young referee clearly not taking in to account Osborne's considerable speed, highly unlikely he was offside, just very quick.

After the break Tows put together some of their best rugby of the game and Tom Bills hit a fantastic line to carve through under the sticks for his first try for the club. With a full compliment back on the field Tows had their tails up with two potential pushover scrums chalked off for scrum infringements and a driving lineout pulled down a couple of yards out. Tows failed to capitalise on these chances. Kettering had two players sent to the bin throughout the second half in a game that appeared to be getting rather scrappy and try scorer Tom Bills was also given a ten minute rest. Kettering took relative control towards the end of the game and got over for their bonus point score. While Tows feel aggrieved and think they could have taken something from the game, Kettering were deserved winners in the end. A bit of handbags at the end of the game resulted in the referee brandishing a red card for both Ronnie Speakman and for Kettering's replacement hooker, an unnecessary outcome at the end of a highly competitive match.

Tows will take confidence from the match despite the final result. They are moving in the right direction and will look to build next week at Lutterworth. The boys need your support now more than ever.
