On Saturday Tows travelled to Maidenhead looking to continue their winning form. Maidenhead have also had a good start to the season so this promised to be a close encounter.
After a shaky start Tows found themselves 3-0 down. The penalty, taken by the home team’s fly half, seemed to spring Tows into action, taking control of game. A strong performance from the visitor’s front row allowed Tows to win ball against the head so that number eight Craig Holton could run at the home team.
Maidenhead’s immaculate artificial surface appeared to be suiting Tows’ play as giant second row Kieran Frost and nimble wing Adam Wilkinson both crossed.
The third try came initially from a break created by Luke Rust and finished by fellow centre Pepe Nanci. Falvey converted this score to give Tows a comfortable lead of fifteen points.
However, with half time looming an attempted short drop out lead to a panicked kick to touch, with Tows still recovering from the kick Maidenhead caught them off guard. The quick throw was taken which lead to a try under the posts.
After the break injuries and replacements seemed to disrupt the visitor’s game, Stephens kicked a penalty as Maidenhead began to build pressure.
An injury to Maidenhead’s replacement front row player Simon Ball, held play up for thirty five minutes, awaiting an ambulance.
After the injury break Maidenhead picked up form where they left off, banging over another penalty to put them to within a point.
The home team’s discipline then imploded, which aloud Tows to kick their way back into the other half.
A drop goal from Ben Roe sealed the win, with Maidenheads winger knocking on the line after a superb cover tackle.
