The game started in woeful fashion for Tows as skipper Liam Wilkinson was sin binned only two minutes in. However after good early pressure from thee visitors pack it was in fact the home team who broke away for winger Pepe Nanci to score and convert in James Falvey’s absence. This was quickly followed by another try for Nanci and by this point it was hard to see how Buckingham were going to contest in the game.
It only got worse for the visitors as Matt Yuill scored to tries before the end of the half, Tows had run the opposition ragged.
In the second half a string of handling errors from Tows’ let good chances go begging and allowed the Buckingham side to finally get into the game. A try from a driving maul highlighted this.
Tows were now under pressure, pinned in their own half after giving away countless penalties. The frustration compounded as charismatic centre Mark Yeates was yellow carded after the referee pulled Tows back from a certain try.
Buckingham used the extra man to their advantage, and going blind from a scrum stolen off of the home side the scored their second try.
After Yeates had served his time in the sin bin, normal service seemed to resume, hard hitting prop Dougie Rattray crashing over. Matt Yuill then completed his hat trick and Chrissie George ran in under the posts to wrap up a rather convincing performance for Tows. Discipline did let them down again in some aspects of the match but overall a good derby day win.
