It was going to be hard to match the defensive efforts of last week’s win against champions, Chippenham as Tows let through the home side on many occasions in the opening exchanges.
An early score from winger Alex Chalcraft set Tows on their way but this proved as false dawn, Devizes scoring from the restart.
A flurry of line out drives saw both teams cross later into the half, Sam Sturley dotting down for Tows. Only the conversions separated the teams as Devizes lead 14 – 10 by this stage.
From the kick off Tows then conceded a simple interception try, followed by a penalty that was taken by fly half Thompson to see Devizes clear.
Reluctant tackling on the bone hard ground allowed the home side to score again and although Tows managed to gain momentum through driving mauls they failed to finish.
Hooker Fen Gallagher gave Tows a glimmer of hope as he scored under the posts, but lack of cover saw Devizes full back Luke Radson expose Tows for a further two tries and complete a solid win.
Tows 1st team debutants Tyler Aris and Kris Ansil came out with credit.
