After the rain in the week the pitches stood up well for both sides to run in lots of tries.
Syston turned up to Greens Norton road with plenty of belief and a large set of players that run hard and straight. The first few minutes of the game couldn't have gone any better for Syston as the smashed there way through Towcesters defence for the first try of the game under the posts. From the restart Syston had the impetus and just managed to off load the ball and use their side and physicality to score again. It took Towcester a few more minutes to start to settle and use the ball to do the work .moving the ball from one side to the other in eventually landed back in the hands of Michael Bagby for the first score for Tows. With the first team taking away the only kicker in the development side Lewis Bodily step up to have a go for the conversion just falling short with his first kick. A few minutes later Towcester went through a purple patch, debutante Euan Earl just out gassed the defence then followed by Patrick pope stepping his way through the mass of bodies then for Euan to get his second of the half. From the restart and a great chase from Rob Lees .Adam Wilkinson found himself open for the next try. Syston did manage to get a score just before half time but the final try of the half went to returnee Craig Holton scoring the try before the whistle. Half time the talk was just carry on the way we were and we should come away with the win. From the restart the attacks cane hard and fast . It was Towcester that struck first , Ben Barwell sniped from the breakdown evaded numerous tackle to score just to the left of the posts. Numerous substitutions calmed the attacks for a while as everyone settled into the game. Returning from injury Tom Threlfall was next on the score sheet as he chased a kick through from Ben Barwell beating the defence to the ball and then to the line. The game started to get a little fractious and the gaps started to open for both sides. Craig Holton manage to get his second before young prop Eddie Amoaka ran in his first try from about 40 metres out laving backs floundering in his wake. Syston got themselves a few scores before the end to make the result look respectable for both sides.
