Towcestrians dream of a third Lewis Shield Victory is over.

On Wednesday night at BBOB's ground under flood lights Tows dream of a third Lewis Shield final ended .
The game started brightly for Towcester as the backs cut through the Buckingham defence and scored the first try within 5 minutes. Alex Povel Captain for the night stepping his way through the defence dotted down 20 metres left of the posts.
Cam Young stepped up for the conversion but pulled it just to the left 5 Nil to Towcester.
A few minutes later again great feet and hands from both backs and forwards saw Sandro get a great off load from Povel to score under the posts.
Cam Young stepped up for the extras. 12 Nil to Towcester.
For the next twenty minutes of the game Towcester started to fall foul of the referree . Everything in the Towcester half was penalised and the Buckingham fly half punished Towcester by gains in ground or points on the board.
Close to half time and a change at eight due to an injury to Sandro.Jamie King took to the field this lead straight into the first yellow card of the game. Jamie keen to put his mark on the game was deemed to have gone off his feet at a ruck resulting in a decision of a yellow card offence by the referee and 10 minutes in the bin.
More points needlessly given away as Tows were down to 14 for the last minute of the half and 9 minutes of the second half.
Changes at half time due to injuries to the front row where only to last a few minutes as Eddie Amaoka had to leave the field with a bloody nose.
More change with a rejig of the front row as Scott Howkins took to the filed.
The scrum totally dominated the opposition all night and was possibly Towcesters best attacking weapon.
The error rates started to creep up. Numerous times in attack it was a rushed pass or an off load that was not required ,that stifled most of the Towcester attacks.
Buckingham took this advantage and started to exert pressure leading to the next score putting them 2 points in front.
Numerous attacks from both side were defend well but again Towcester fell foul of that man in the middle again giving Bucks great field position for the next scores.
The eventual final score with Bucks taking the win was none stop till the very end.
Congratulations to them and good luck in the final.
It always going to be tough competing for the Lewis Shield after so many players have won this competition but we move on to the league against another tough side Luctonians away.
