The first half started fairly well for Tows as Scott Browne another last minute returnee opened a gap in the home defence for first team coach Steve Yuill to dance past his opposite number. This eventually led to the ball being chipped through for Steve and Harry Peart to chase down together. Harry Peart 34 year’s junior to Steve just piped him to the ball to touch down for the first score.
The home side did strike back twice with well worked try’s out numbering the defence to go into the lead.
Towcester did everything to come back into the game with the Snook brothers leading the way. Darren Snook first team coach playing at No 8 attacked from the base of the scrum which was picked and drive numerous time for Tows second score.
Just before the half hour mark Paul smith completely knackered was substituted with a reserve supplied by the home side closely follow by Steve Yuill and then Matt Snook. This instantly deprived Tows of 141 years of experience as the youngsters took their place.
At the half time break Tows were still in contention and still within a score of the home side but it was the home side that struck first.
From then on it was always going to be catch up rugby all through the half.
Scott Browne continued to open up the opposition defence for Matt Huck and David Moss to come very close to scoring.
Sam Smith bagged the final score for Towcester but the home side ran in the final try just before the final whistle.
Thank you to all the guys who turned out for the side and thank you Market Rasen for the additional players.
