Derby At Home

Derby are certainly a team that will punish any squad if you make mistakes and Tows made to many if I'm honest and with multiple changes to the squad again this week and 23 changes over the last 3 weeks isn't helping the players but it's the nature of the beast by being a development squad . The Towcestrians started the strongest and got points on the board with 10 minutes but seemed to switch on in attack but off in defence giving away 8 penalties 4 in each half compared to Derby this wasn't helping us plus the ref wasn't helping things seemed to fall in favour of Derby which added to the frustration of some players but the Tows kept bouncing back with some fantastic running plays from Giles Sowden and Rob Lees kept the Tows forwards attacking into a strong wind which Derby had used well by kicking the ball at every opportunity back and pinning the Tows into their own 22 and at half time Tows 5-1 down .

As the 2nd half started Tows finally got the wind on there back they needed but you could see that 1st half had taken its toll on the players but they started the strongest again with a try from Adam wilkinson on 46th minute to bring the scores in 10-15 but again Derby hit back with a try and a successful conversion but it didn't finish Tows started with another attack that went through several phases to release winger Cam Young to sprint past the Derby fullback 15-27 This seemed to unsettle the side which allowed Tows to strike again 22-27 . Tows finally seemed to be pulling the phases making the big Derby forwards work hard but again the ref wasn't having any nonsense from Tows and Sent Ryan Blackwell for a 10 minute break which effected the tired Tows squad by letting Derby score 2 more try's and a conversion in the last 10 minutes of play . Taking nothing away from Derby they are a good team and we needed to be at our best but you can't win all the time that's to easy so back to training this week ready to prepare for the next match .
