It took a while but eventual Towcester squeezed out the win.

After last season we knew this was going to be a tough game,
With the injuries to the best part of 25 players across the first and development squad we had another mixed side to pick from.
The game started with both sides testing each others defence.
As is the norm at the moment both in attack and defence Tows started steadily this week slowly building the speed and intensity.
On most days the attacks would have stuck but it was a very bright and sunny bitterly cold day where occasionally cold hand couldn't keep hold of the ball.
The referees whistle was very evident in the first twenty as penalties for silly infringements and drop ball lead to line outs and scrummages galore.
As is usual in this leagues we have to play quick ball in the scrum as the opposition always have a heavier pack and tend to dominate on the drive. This lead to fifty fifty ball to play with, as the ball bounced back and forth between the two packs.
On the twenty minute mark Tows were awarded a penalty 30 metres out to the left of the posts. Falvey steps forward and drills it straight through the middle.
The next ten minutes showed that either side could score next but unfortunately Tows knocked on leading to a Nuneaton scrum. With their dominance going forward the Tows defence compressed far to much and ran out of numbers as the open side winger ran around the edge of the defence to score.
Half time and team talk was all positive as we had played the better rugby and needed to work hard on cutting the handling errors.
With the usual raft of substitutions Towcester started the half well by putting the visitors under pressure.
The attacks and phases started to work well as everything over 4 phases resulted in a gain in ground.
It was starting to look as is there would be tries galore this half but the visitor defence held well and handling errors let them off the hook so they were able to clear their lines to half way numerous times.
From the touch line it looked as is time was running out but players were still confident that the game was still winnable.
On the 70 minute mark Nuneaton infringed 40 metres out and the decision was to take a shot at goal.
Footing was poor as James Falvey stepped forward to take the shot.
The ball drifted just right of the posts with ten to play.
From the restart Towcester still push forward defence held strong and the score didn't look like i would happen, but just a simple attacking move were everyone hands didn't let them down manage to get to Marc Yeates waiting on the wing to dot the ball down.
Five minutes to play and Tows with their tails up continue to put on the pressure unfortunately the visitors held strong as the final whistle blew.
A tough game but a win over a side we didn't win again last season.
Next week see us travelling away again as we build on this win a go to 2nd in the table.
