What a difference a week makes after last week’s disappointment Towcester travelled away to Dunstable for the second league game of the season.
Towcester started the game in third gear and move onward and upward from there. Benjamin Roe opened up the try fest within a minute of the kick off followed 2 minutes later by David Devlin-Jones.
Mr consistent David Moss added to the score sheet 8 minutes later as Dunstable where left reeling from the onslaught. Dunstable did try to slow the game down by keeping the ball tight in the forwards which lasted 9 minutes before Gus Hopewell attack from a scrum after Marc Yeates pick up from No 8 attack on the blindside offloaded to Gus as the pacey No9 ran around the defence scoring wide of the posts.
Dunstable did eventually get points on the board as they opted for a penalty kick after a rare infringement from Towcester.
Marc then got into the act a he also bagged himself a try just before the half hour.
It didn't end there for Dunstable Jim Wallis bust through the centre adding to the 38 -3 score for the first half.
The second half started with a wakeup call with the Dunstable No15 running straight through the centre of the defence to score.
Towcester regrouped and tries flowed, David Devlin-Jones added another brace of tries to be replaced by Matt Bodily who continued the rout and score the next try.
Adam Wilkins was next on the score sheet as he weaved his way through numerous missed tackles dotting down by the posts. Matt Bodily scored Towcester final try at 72 minutes.
Dunstable did have a flourish right near the finish as they pressurised Towcester try line.
Numerous infringements and a continuation of penalties end up with a yellow card for Captain Matt Snook.
Charles Howard and Drew McCloud made good debuts and it was nice to see Matt Bodily and Sam Sturly back in action for the Development side.
Next week’s league match is against Northampton Old Scouts at home.
