A mixture of players forms the Development side with assistance from “The Ultimate” 3rds for another away trip to Spalding.

Travelling away appears not to be a favourite with most players as it needed the assistance from the 3rds to make up the numbers for the squad.
Spalding looked on paper to be an inform side beating BBOB’s and Kettering two sides that have beaten Towcester.
As the game started the 2 sides moved the ball about sizing each other up. It was evident from the first 5 minutes Towcester’s backline marshalled by Scott Browne had the superior talent and pace. All they needed was to keep the ball in hand and let the ball do the talking.
It wasn’t long before the forwards wrestled the ball away from the Spalding forwards to allow Browne to use his gas to open another hole in the Spalding defence
The ball went through all the backs hands for David Moss to collect the ball in the clear for Towcester’s first try. Scott Browne took the extra points giving them the lead of 7 points in 7 minutes.
Towcester’s forwards started to dominate in the scrum with the next score coming from the pack 5 metres out and on Spalding’s put in Towcester’s forwards drove the home team backwards the full 5 metres. Simon(The Mole) Tiernan emerged from beneath the fallen mass with the try.
It took another 6 minutes before Towcester scored again. Rob Bodily gave quick ball to Browne who again had Spalding’s defence running in all the wrong directions popping a ball for Adam Wilkinson to jinx his way through the hole scoring virtually under the posts.
Scott Browne added the extras to give the visitors a 19 nil lead.
The home side in the first half only managed 3 points from a penalty just before half time.
At the turn around the home side determined to address the score came out all guns blazing.
The home side threw everything at Tows who defended to a man.
Another breakout from the forwards took play to the halfway. Matt Snook took to the field for his shortest game ever. Mark Ennis drove the ball forward assisted by Mark Garwood and James(Baggy) Bagshaw to set up a ruck. Snook defending on the fringe of the ruck was smashed by two Spalding players coming from an offside position. This was the end of the game for Matt and the injured Charles Howard retook the field. Scott Browne added 3 more points to his tally from the penalty.
Spalding did eventually score a deserved try as Towcester tired later in the game a couple of missed tackles gave them the overlap wide for their backs to score.
Towcester’s final score came from returning “Team GB Ultimate Frisbee” player Dom Clarke whose electric pace blew away the trailing defence scoring under the post. Scott Browne drop kicked the additional 2 points.
The final points went to the home side that exerted continued pressure on Towcester’s line and drove over with the forward pack to score the final try.
A great win on the road for Towcester and a big thank you to Robert Cootes Ultimate’s for the extra players.
