Three scintillating tries as Scouts go down to their second loss to Towcester’s development side.
A windy afternoon at Old Scouts saw Towcester face a different Scouts team than the one that took a hammering at the beginning of the season.
The first score came from excellent forward pressure; Craig Burger drove the ball forward to allow Joe Chambers to smash his way over the Scouts line within the first five minutes. Pepe Nanci took charge of kicking duties and slotted the extra points.
Scouts with a few wise heads played their game and continued to pressure the Tows line, stout tackling lead to a turn over and Tows attacked again. Pepe Nanci cleared the lines with a kick to touch.
From the lineout Scouts attacked again and a crunching tackle from Craig Burger turn Scouts over again one huge kick from Pepe split the Scouts Fullback and winger and their indecision saw speedster Dominic Clark sprint 40 metres a snatch the ball over the try line and score the first of his brace.
Minutes later from a scrum Dan Taylor picked from the base and offloaded to Rob Bodily, Aaron Goodman on the wrap around chipped the ball over the defence Dominic Clark with that out and out speed caught the bobbling ball over the try line to score his second.
The first half ended with Tows taking a 19 point lead.
The second half proved to be a very tight half , Scouts with wise heads played to their strength, Keeping the ball in the forwards and recycling well .Eventually the pressure and a stream of penalties gave Scouts the opportunity to score their only points of the match.
The half started to get a little out of hand as a few cheap shots were thrown but the youngster kept their heads and played rugby.
The final points of the match went to Dom Preece playing at flyhalf weaved his way at least 60 metres evading tackle covering tackles from the winger and fullback to score under the posts. Pepe converted again for the extras.
This was a good team effort as Scouts provided better opposition than were expected with some outstand tries from Dominic Clark and Dom Preece.
