Tows arrived at the racecourse, keen to avenge the previous seasons defeat as under seventeens.
This plan was aptly on course with Chris Bayles charging over the line for a try in only the second minute of play. Sam Neale converted this and Tows were leading by 7 points to 0.
22 minutes into play, Sam Neale popped pre-planned hanging ball pass into an empty space and Sam Aitchison burst into both gap and ball as planned and away to score a great try from the set piece! Sam Neale converted the try and Tows had an unchallenged 14 points on the board. Despite giving away numerous free kicks and even having one more try attempt held up over the line... Ollie Johnson popped over in the corner in the dying minutes of the half for a try that was nigh impossible to convert. The half time whistle blew and Tows were leading 19 points to 0.
The second half commenced and Huntingdon came back strong.
2 minutes into the half and Huntingdon crossed the line for their first points on the board, but did not convert.
Tows fought back and were rewarded 6 minutes later, when Thorne Gladwin crossed the line and dived under the posts for a try, which Sam Neale converted.
3 minutes later, Huntingdon fought back successfully and notched up their second try, which they converted, bringing the score to 12 - 26, but with Tows still leading...
The rest of the half was a battlefield, both sides putting in a brave effort - but with no change on the scoreboard.
At the final whistle, the scoreboard showed a good away victory to Tows and read Huntingdon 12 - 26 Tows.
A good Stag do for Tows...
