Narrow win despite indiscipline

Trojans Chiefs 14 Andover 10

The Chiefs enjoyed all the pressure early on and Christian made a couple of good breaks. From a tap penalty in Andover's 22 the ball went out to winger Alex who touched down, but the try was disallowed for a forward pass. Andover responded and competed well at the breakdown. They took the lead with a well taken try from their backs. Once again the Trojans backs failed to drift across and cover the danger. They also continued to offend at the breakdown, giving away a series of penalties, despite being repeatedly told what to do by referee Ian Jarvis. Michael was replaced by Fin H. After 20 minutes Thomas went off with a sore neck after making a heavy tackle and Ash was brought on at prop. Soon after, Christian scored a deserved try. Matt converted to put the Chiefs ahead at 7-5. Unfortunately Christian hurt his neck whilst scoring and to make matters worse he was concussed when a team mate's knee collided with his head during the unnecessarily flamboyant celebrations. Ollie came on as replacement and Alex went to inside centre.

Andover started the second half the better. From a tap penalty on the 22, their tighthead prop charged over the line to put them back in front by 10-7. The Chiefs continued to struggle at the breakdown and with the laws of the game and some were starting to let the frustration get the better of them. After a talking to their attitude improved and they concentrated on the game, playing some good running rugby. Josh kicked well and Fin H. led from the front. The boys won the match with the try of the game. Matt made a great break into space and was well supported by Holden who held the ball up well before executing a superb switch with Oscar who ran in under the posts for the winning try. Josh converted to make the final score 14-10.

The Chiefs made hard work of the win and will need to improve significantly if they are to win their last league game of the season.
