A good team performance to wipe away the memory of three consecutive defeats.

Weymouth 7 Trojans Chiefs 45

The Trojans pitches waterlogged so the match was played at Weymouth. It was a long journey but worth it to get a game, put on a good team performance and wipe away the memory of three consecutive defeats.

Thomas and Euan were rested due to injuries, so Jenson and Kier were drafted in from the Warriors to play their first games for the Chiefs. Alfie also played his first match for the Chiefs. Josh L. was nursing an injury so Waldo played the whole match at scrum-half. Being a friendly, the emphasis on this match was to produce a good team performance and everyone was given at least a half a game.

The early stages of the match were characterised by a succession of handling errors, but it wasn't long before Trojans imposed their game on Weymouth and started to benefit from the pressure they put them under. Christian crashed over for the first try of the game, converted by Matt. Then Oscar scored from the kick-off, catching the ball himself and running in a trademark try from his own half. Again Matt converted to make the score 14-0. Linton went off with a nosebleed and was replaced at flanker by Ben P. playing his first game of the season after a long lay off with injury. He made a big impact and celebrated his comeback by scoring the Chiefs' third try. Matt converted to make it 21-0 at half-time.

Alfie, Ben McC. and Josh L. were brought on for Oscar, Gabriel and Rodrigo respectively. The second half continued to be dominated by the Chiefs with man of the match Fin H. scoring a well deserved try after an interception from Matt, who converted again to extend the lead to 28-0. The only negative incident in the game was when Phil reacted badly to a high tackle and was given a yellow card. However, losing a player for 7 minutes didn't affect the course of the match. Soon after, captain Ash scored his team's fifth try, followed by a well taken try from winger Wian, his first for Trojans. Ash sealed the win with an impressive charge from outside the 22. Matt converted to take the score up to 45-0. Weymouth were not finished and made a spirited comeback to score a try their efforts deserved. A comfortable win for the Chiefs and much to build on for the tougher challenges to come.
