Trojans Best Performance of the season so far. MOTM Max Self

Trojans Colts 1st XV v Gosport and Fareham Colts 1st XV
Sunday 9th November 2014 2.00pm
League – Cup Division
Playing Condition – Overcast, showers
Trojans fielded their strongest team this season to date, against a Gosport and Fareham team that had won consecutive promotions to the Cup Division. It was Trojans that started the Strongest, and winger Luke Till went on a typically direct run, only being tackled 10 metres short of the line. Trojans forwards were dominant, and a forward’s drive gave Max Self Trojans first try of the afternoon. T’s missed a penalty opportunity to increase their lead, but more points were not far off. Adam Dawes surged down the right wing, again setting up the forwards to drive the ball to the line. This time it was Morgan Day that claimed the try.
After T’s early dominance, Gosport and Fareham slowly came back into the game. Indeed when a Max Bickford kick was charged down, Gosport and Fareham were unlucky not to score.

HT Trojans 10- 0 Gosport and Fareham.

Trojans were back in the ascendancy at the start of the second half, Strong runs from Adam Dawes again threatened the Gosport line, but eventually it was Toby Hill that claimed the third try. James Herbert claimed a lineout ball (Cam and James were absolutely dominant in the lineout all afternoon), and The T’s rolling maul crossed the Gosport line, with Max Self claiming his second try of the afternoon, this time converted by Max Bickford. The fifth try followed shortly after with a typical Luke Till solo effort again converted by Bickers. It was then Trojans indiscipline that resulted in conceding points towards the end of the game. First Cam Haisman was yellow carded for not retreating 10 metres at a penalty. Followed immediately by Ollie Murray, for a high tackle. (Could go down as the shortest appearance of the season. 30seconds on the pitch Ollie !!!!). With only 13 men left on the pitch, T’s conceded a try, quickly followed by another, which was definitely the best passing move of the game.

Final Score Trojans 29 – 10 Gosport and Fareham.
Tries
Self x 2, Day, Hill and Till.
Conversions
Bickford x 2
In Summary, Trojans best performance of the season. The Forwards dominated, but the backs can still improve. Late indiscipline let Gosport in to score, when it really should have been a clean sheet.
My Trojans MOTM goes to Max Self
In all honesty, it could have gone to any of the forwards today, but we will give it to Max Self, as a result of scoring his two tries.
