A red hot encounter warms the crowd on a cold afternoon at Stoneham Lane

For the second week running Trojans Academy welcomed opposition from the New Forest, this time Ellingham and Ringwood Academy.

The visitors were soon into their stride scoring 3 quick tries to go 15-0 up. Each try was scored in a virtually identical manner by the visitors moving the ball away quickly from their pack through the backs and scoring in the corner on each occasion. Trojans also lost hooker Jack LV with a shoulder injury early on. Skipper Miles S rallied the side and soon they were back in the game gaining territory with Sam G and Dan B taking the game to the visitors. A move through the forwards led to Joe J scoring a well deserved try.The home team were now back in their stride playing with focus and as a combined unit with Charlie C driving forward with ball in hand. The Trojans attitude was typified by Lewis F confidently soaring high to take a high ball. However he was taken out in the air which led to him leaving the game and for an Ellingham and Ringwood player to be taken to hospital. Our best wishes to go the injured player.

The Trojans team re grouped with both Scott O and JC taking the game to the visitors and Ollie C being active in the midfield.

Camped on the Ellingham and Ringwood line Trojans waited patiently until Christian CM saw a space and darted over to make the score 10-15; JG converted 12-15. Sensing they were coming back into the game the confidence came back to Trojans and they came back at the visitors with the speedy Ollie C scoring a great try running from the halfway line to score under the posts; JG converted 19- 15. Trojans had the lead.

Half time score 19-15.

The second half started in the same manner with the visitors scoring a breakaway try to take a 19-20 lead. Trojans were soon back at the visitors with Ollie JH and Harry C both driving forwards and almost scoring. A quick tap penalty by Sam S went through three phases before Christian CM scored his second of the game, 24-20 to Trojans. As the game moved on more open space appeared which suited both teams. Trojans kept the visitors in their own 22 for a sustained period and eventually JC dived over to score, 29-20 with 10 minutes to go. The visitors came back strongly with Trojans equally strong in defence. An attack from deep by the visitors led to some great cover defence from Dan B and Harry C forcing the winger into touch in the far corner however the referee adjudged from 30 yards away that a try was scored; 29-25.

So the game finished with a home win 29-25 with Trojans staging a good comeback against challenging opposition.

Afterwards the team agreed that as a collective unit they had worked hard for each other and dug deep to come back. The coaches were pleased with the way they had come back and worked together to win the game. However there is lots to work on in this week's training session and those in the weeks ahead as they seek to develop, improve and enjoy their Rugby. Both teams went off for a well deserved shower and were treated by sponsor Owtons to some of their finest Beef Burgers after the game which went down very well.
