Trojans ultimately came through this Hampshire Bowl match with a convincing win although the first half was very even.
Trojans started strongly and within five minutes flanker Will Butterwick burst over in the corner after a good backs move. On ten minutes Andover had a five metre lineout and a short ball to the front saw the Andover prop charge over the line with a good long range conversion. On twenty minutes, Trojans captain Joby Kochanowski gained the ball on the half-way line and dashed to the line only to be tackled just short of the line but he managed to pop the ball up to winger Elliott Culley to score under the post for Chris Boyd to convert. The Andover kick-off went to the Trojan’s twenty two and the defensive kick was charged down to allow Andover to run it wide and score in the corner to bring the scores level. Right on half time Culley got over the line but the ball was deemed held-up. But from the ensuing scrum Culley was on hand to score with a conversion by Josh Gregory.
Right at the start of the second half an Andover player was red carded for a clear punch right in front of the referee. On the quarter hour, and after a long stoppage for an Andover injury, Trojans put a great move together involving forwards and backs which ended with Kochanowski scoring under the posts with Gregory converting. With Andover down to fourteen men and suffering a number of injuries, Trojans began to take complete control and on the half-hour Gregory bemused the Andover defence to score and convert himself. Trojans finished off the match with a good try by scrum-half Sam Walker, converted by Gregory.
