Trojans saw this local derby as a potential banana skin despite Millbrook’s lowly position but came away with a positive bonus point win.

Trojans put the pressure on Millbrook from the start and within five minutes a tight rolling maul saw hooker Tom Gorman plunge over the line for the first of five tries. From the kick-off Millbrook then put Trojans under pressure with some fair attacking moves but the defence stood firm and gradually Trojans worked their way back up the pitch and on the quarter hour gained a penalty on the Millbrook twenty two with Charlie Bolton kicking the points. Millbrook’s kick off went straight to touch and from the ensuing scrum play opened up and second row Alex Williams charged up the field slipping the ball to winger Jake Bailey for him to score in the corner. Trojans kept up the pressure and just five minutes later won a scrum on the Millbrook twenty-two and simple passing across the field saw Bailey run in for his second try. The first half played out pretty evenly with Bolton exchanging penalties with Millbrook giving Trojans a satisfactory 23 – 3 half time lead.

Trojans immediately took control at the start of the second-half and got into the Millbrook twenty-two. A number of re-set scrums eventually ended with flanker Dave Linton grabbing the ball and bulldozing his way over the line. With the weather closing in, wet and cold hands prevented any more open rugby with Trojans, particularly, seeming to take their foot off the pedal whilst Millbrook sprang into life, putting a number of good moves together resulting in creating a big overlap on the left which was cleanly finished off. They continued to worry Trojans until, on the half-hour, Trojans fly-half, Johnny Smyth, chipped a long ball from the half-way line which resulted in a line-out just outside the Millbrook five-metre line where Trojans created a maul, pushing over the line for Alex Williams to claim the touch down.
