Trojans made a great start to the match with strong forward play taking them into the Weybridge 22 then feeding the backs for Toogi Long to score under the posts, converted by himself, and all in the first minute. Trojans continued to dominate but on ten minutes were reduced to 14 men when Alex Williams was red carded after a tussle on the ground following his being late tackled. However, Trojans attacks were undiminished and Long kicked a penalty on the 20 minute mark. Superior numbers allowed Weybridge to gain ground but the Trojans defence held firm and pushed Weybridge into their own half where an attacking move was intercepted by centre Mike Boyd who ran through to score under the post for an easy Long conversion. From the ensuing kick-off Trojans put in another strong forward attack ending with Johnny Smyth coming off his wing to finish off the attack with another Long conversion and giving Trojans a 24 – 0 half-time lead.

For the first ten minutes of the second half Trojans were under a bit of pressure but, again, a strong defence allowed them to move up the field and a long penalty kick gave Trojans a five metre line-out. A strong maul pushed over the line and prop Steve Fitzgerald claimed the touch down with a long distance conversion from Long. Although not scoring as freely as in the first half Trojans seemed to be making light work of being so long a man short with every player rising to the challenge and playing some wonderful rugby. This was finally rewarded, right on time, when some slick forward inter-passing ending with Mark Greenhalgh crashing over with Long slotting his fifth conversion and giving Trojans a fine bonus point win.
