Trojan’s matches against Teddington have always been tight affairs and this game was no exception with Trojans coming out on top 36 – 31.

However, with Trojans scoring three goals in the first half-hour and a significant first-half lead, this looked to be different but Teddington had other ideas and a good second-half display saw them get to within five points in a pulsating game.

The first try came within five minutes with Trojans camped in the Teddington half full-back Elliott Culley cut through the Teddington defence to score with Toogi Long converting. Play was then concentrated in the centre of the pitch until, on twenty-five minutes, a fine break from halfway by Johnny Smyth saw the ball slipped out to centre Kevin Richens who ran through to score near the posts for an easy conversion by Long. Trojans then kept up the pressure and a neat chip over the Teddington defence on the twenty-two by scrum-half Chris Boyd, allowed Culley to run round, gather the ball to score his second try with another Long conversion. Towards the end of the half Teddington put in a rare attack in the Trojan half resulting in a try on the wing but Trojans then hit back with a great individual try by Long to make the half-time score a well deserved 26 – 5 lead to Trojans

Teddington started the second-half with periods of pressure on the Trojans defence resulting, on ten minutes, with a goal following some good running by their backs and some sloppy Trojans tackling. Trojans were then kept in their own half until, on twenty minutes, some excellent handling by the Trojans backs took play well into the Teddington half and centre Johnny Smyth finished off the move with a well taken try. Around the half-hour mark, with Teddington having much more of the game, they scored a try in the corner but this was quickly followed by a Long try after a defensive Teddington kick went loose and Long made the most of it. With five minutes to go, and following some indiscipline from Trojans, Teddington made the most of a five-metre penalty line-out to score under the posts and then, after more confusion in the Trojans defence, gained another goal just on time to bring the score to 36 – 31.
