What a day of twists and turns with the referee seemingly not understanding the offside rule, even the lady supporters have a better understanding of this rule. First half we had two clear onside goals disallowed but we still finished 2-0 up at the half thanks to a superb opener from Matthew Hughes after Kieran Spurling won the ball in midfield to pass over defence for Matthew Hughes to calmly slot the ball home. Ryan McKee added a second before the break with a well taken free kick from the right and directing the ball over the keeper into the top left.
Second half and Declan Baird's first half pressure started to pay off and he fought hard to get beyond the defence and secured his first of the game. Declan then managed to slot the ball home with a power drive after a goal mouth scramble. Sammy Kyle then had a free run at the keeper and slotted the ball round the keeper after a good forward pass by George McClure. Declan Baird then secured his hatrick and a 6-0 win for TT2007.
The back four today including the sub defenders all deserve a mention for a solid display Liam McIver at Left Back for the first half had a very good game with some brave tackles and great long ball clearances, replaced by Hadley Duncan at Half time, Hadley then gave the best display he has shown this year, bringing back the Hadley of old with his twists and turns and his calm play when on the ball. James Ferguson and George McClure once again linked up well at Central defence creating a brick wall in front of the keeper. Donny Rorison and Arran Robertson at Right Back both stood up firm against their attackers and won all the challenges and managed to clear the ball away effectively.
Some of the days tactics still need some working on. The throw ins have improved massively and the corners are being attacked more positively. The coaches will address some of the slight issues at training this week, but overall a brilliant display by the boys again, TOP OF THE LEAGUE with 4 wins from 4 games - 12 points, once I get the other results in then we can look at the league but so far alphabetically 4th goals 3rd.
