Truro City kick off new campaign in style

TRURO City kicked off the new Southern League campaign in impressive style as goals from Ryan Law and Niall Thompson gave the White Tigers a comfortable 0-2 win against Met Police at Imber Court.

After an undefeated preseason City headed to London looking to kick start an exciting new era for the club with three points.

After a lacklustre start to the game with no chances of any note for either side, the deadlock was broken on 23 minutes.

Completely out of nothing Ryan Law took a shot from the edge of the area that fired across goal into the side of the net leaving the Met keeper helpless to put City 0-1 up.

The White Tigers soon started to take control of proceedings and they doubled their lead just before the break.

A stunning defence breaking pass from Will Dean set Niall Thompson through on goal and the striker finished low into the bottom corner to put us in complete control going into the half time interval.

Truro’s dominance continued into the second period and saw a number of chances go just wide of the target.

Both Austen Booth and Luke Jephcott saw shots go over the bar before Will Dean too tried his luck from distance which went high and wide.

James Hamon was then called into action for the first time in the match as he quickly denied the hosts with a reaction save.

Substitute Louis Rooney forced former Truro loanee Charlie Burns in the Met goal into a save at his near post.

After a dominating display City headed back to Cornwall with all three points as our attentions turn to Tuesday evening where we welcome Dorchester Town to Treyew Road (Kick Off 7:45pm).
